Venom
Venom refers to the toxins that snakes inject into their prey by biting them. The venom is highly specialized saliva that is produced by the snake in its venom glands. In addition to snakes other animals and insects such as scorpions, wasps, and some lizards are venomous. There are a variety of toxins present in snake venom not just one kind. Some examples include:
- Hemotoxic: Destroys red blood cells
- Neurotoxic: Destroys the nervous system
- Myotoxic: Destroys the muscles
