Brown Water Snake

- Appearance
- Large, heavy bodied snake that grown up to 48 inches. Adults have large square dark brown blotches on a lighter brown background. Its belly is a yellow brownish color with dark blotches. As they age the pattern darkens and is less noticable. Juveniles look similar to adults but are lighter colored.

- They are found throughout the southeastern portion of the United State’s Coastal Plain
- Feeding Habits
- Generally diurnal, but will often become nocturnal during mid summer when it becomes to hot for them to hunt. The main diet of the Brown Water Snake is fish, but they will also eat frogs and other aquatic animals. They do not kill their prey instead they simply swallow it alive.
